Take a Dip. Mix it Up.

TAKE A DIP. It's summer. We all know what this means. For those of us in New England, it means the glorious stretch of beaches along the coast, or that treasured inland lake, or mountain river spot. With character abound in these small New England towns, having style and funk makes you stand out from the everyday. In honor of August: Vacation month, I give you two unique finds: ERES Swimwear and a summer punch cocktail not to disappoint.

ERES: Punchy colors, well made suits, and current style. We all know the key to finding that perfect suit is finding one that won't fall off if you actually swim. ERES offers practical, sexy suits for us to play in, while still allowing us to "harness the Hepburn" we all crave. For me, the Cache Cache and Taboo line of this season stand out. The contrast seams, and lines, especiallt the use of white in The Blazer are just oh-so-sexy. The whole Cache Cache line carries this glorious theme. For a more feminine feel I love the print and practical cuts of the Taboo style. While finding them might be tricky, those of you in Seattle, New York, Boston and California should have little problems, my advice is call your local Barney's or Nordstrom and swim your heart out! http://www.eresparis.com/en#/retourHome,en

MIX IT UP. After your long swim (and no doubt fabulous beach date), try making yourself a different punch cocktail! This one was found on the Tory Blog by Alexa Brazilian of the Wall St Journal, but it's just too good not to borrow: Add a cup of frozen peaches, pineapples, and strawberries, the juice of two limes, tequila or rum, equal parts Ting (A Jamaican grapefruit soda) and club soda. Garnish with fresh tarragon or mint. Enjoy with the squeeze and sunset of your choice, and you will have maximized one more of summers precious days. -Sarah xxoo

Josh Podoll aka The Podolls

Since my beloved Mother, whom has always been the driving force behind her daughter, mentioned to me that she simply could not wait for the first fashion post, I bring to you a post about Josh Podoll, whose company is now renamed The Podolls, after his best friend and partner decided to marry him, and whom also helped him craft his dream of sustainable, handcrafted, grown and sewn in the USA graphic tees. I find it appropriate that this be my first post. It is dedicated to my mother, as I discovered these tees in the gorgeous location of Marblehead, MA where my mother was lucky enough to have lived with our dearest Mary Ellen, get married, and live with me as her infant protegee;). I will not bore you with the details, but needless to say, Marblehead holds a special place in my heart, and my shopping cerebellum.
It is in Marblehead, that my discovery and love of Josh Podoll began. Using high quality, sustainable and responsible fibers, located in San Francisco's Dogpatch, this company should have one hanger in every sensible girls closet. Enjoy reading, and take my word, you'll enjoy wearing these cotton tees.  http://www.thepodolls.com/#/About   xo-Sarah

In the begining

Upon my return from my 4th adventure in Europe I've decided to start a style, inspiration blog. Naming it Modern Antiquity, I will be creating a forum of my experiences, inspirationed by fashion, architecture, literature and travel. In concept my aim is to inspire you to find the modern in the antiquity of Europe, the heartland, or the dirt in your own backyard. Since my interests span continents, subjects, geographies and cultures, you'll find a subject matter of observations in new experiences including anything from rustic mountain locations, Yankeed traditions, to modern chicness of Euro fashions and trends. While I cannot promise to always be cutting edge, it is my desire to share simple inspirations of style for you to take ownership in your own everyday. I sincerely hope you will enjoy. -Sarah
